June is National Dairy Month, a moment in time each year where we pause to celebrate America’s hardworking dairy farmers and the dairy foods that nourish people, strengthen communities and foster a sustainable future.
Today and every day, dairy farmers are committed to producing the delicious and nutritious dairy foods we all know and enjoy. They work around-the-clock to care for their animals and protect their environment because it’s what they love to do!
Why National Dairy Month?
June Dairy Month has been a tradition in the U.S. since 1937. It was established by grocers organizations as a way to distribute extra milk during the warm months of summer. By 1939, June became the official “Dairy Month” and has since transitioned to a sales promotion program for milk and dairy foods.

National dairy month has gone but the nutritional effect of milk still remains.

Let;s hope for the best.
I remember when our local dairy promoters did a Project Milky Wayne to promote dairy and promoted an ice cream recipe.

Mr. Wingert was our milk man. Our milk box sat on our top step. It was always so exciting when the milk was delivered. Thank you Mr. Wingert.
