Are you looking for a healthy, yet tasty, item to sell in your school concession stand? Adding nutrient-rich chocolate milk to your menu is a great way to encourage students to make smart food choices and lead a healthy lifestyle, as well as boost concession stand sales.
Why chocolate milk
Chocolate milk contains the same nine essential nutrients as white milk and is a healthful alternative to soft drinks. Offering low fat chocolate milk is delicious way to help everyone get their 3 servings of dairy needed each day, as recommended by the Dietary Guidelines for Americans.
It’s also a great way to complement Fuel Up to Play 60, an in-school nutrition and physical activity program from the National Dairy Council and the NFL that encourages the availability and consumption of nutrient-rich foods along with 60 minutes of physical activity daily.
How to get started
It’s easy to add low fat chocolate milk to your concession stand menu because milk is already delivered to your school every day. AND, rest assured - if your school has an exclusive beverage contract with a soda company, you can still sell chocolate milk. Federal law states that milk – white or flavored – can be served anytime, anywhere on school grounds. That includes in your athletic complexes and concession stands. Contact your school’s nutrition director for help with ordering.
To help encourage your school’s coaches, athletes, students, fans and parents to Fuel Up with Chocolate Milk, the American Dairy Association Mideast is pleased to offer Ohio middle and high school booster groups a FREE dry-erase menu board. Click here for details.
