Jared Joins the Ranks of Milk Mustachers (2/08)

SUBWAY® Restaurants this week rolls out a multi-million dollar integrated marketing campaign to recognize Jared Fogle’s 10-year milestone of losing and keeping off 245 pounds.

The image of Fogle, a long-time SUBWAY® spokesperson, holding up his famous size 60 “fat pants” has received worldwide recognition, with an 83 percent recognition rate among consumers.

Now, a decade later, Fogle announces he’s officially retiring the “pants” at the end of 2008 and moving on to images of his permanent healthy lifestyle. He’ll use the iconic pants for one last round of attention, but this time as a fundraising tool to collect at least $2 million for childhood obesity prevention.

His 10-year milestone is receiving further recognition with Fogle joining the got milk?/Milk Mustache campaign in a new print ad promoting the health benefits of drinking low-fat milk.

The milk ad is jointly funded by national milk processor Shamrock Farms and SUBWAY®. The copy reads: “Healthy Appetite: Losing the fat pants 10 years ago meant learning to eat fresh – and drink fresh. That’s why the calcium and nutrients in milk are part of my healthy lifestyle, so try three glasses a day of low at or fat free milk.”
