Why Breakfast?
Kids skip breakfast for a variety of reasons, but it's certain that students are better able to focus and concentrate in class and less likely to have discipline problems, be tardy, or pay a visit to the nurse when they start their day with breakfast, especially when it’s served at school. School breakfast allows all students the opportunity to start the day off right.

What is Expanding Breakfast?
Expanding Breakfast is a program that allows students to consume morning meal outside of the cafeteria, significantly increasing participation in school breakfast. The following are great ways to expand breakfast in your schools.
Students receive a nutritious breakfast served in the comfort and familiar surroundings of their classroom. They eat while listening to announcements or while teachers read aloud or conduct other classroom duties.
Students enjoy breakfast on the go, during a break or during first period. Serving carts located in easily accessible locations in the cafeteria or near the school entrance provide a quick and nutritious meal for students.
Students eat breakfast following the first instructional period. A mid-morning breakfast gives students a nutritious choice and encourages students to make breakfast part of their daily routine.
